Day Two and Three of the 30 Day Blog Challenge!

Yes, I missed writing my blog yesterday for the 30 Day Blog Challenge.

For those of you just tuning in, I have joined a 30 day blog challenge from Amethyst Mahoney and her Spiritual Badass group which you can find a link to HERE. I joined this group because in it I found a spiritual group of entrepreneurs and seekers that are very accepting and interesting! Not only have I learned some stuff, but I have found acceptance and camaraderie from an ecclectic group of people from all over the world!

Yesterday's suggested topic was this: how does spirituality fit into your business or life?

My answer is this: I am not sure how to really separate who I am spiritually to who I am as a wife, mother, grandmother, employee, and entrepreneur.

We are all souls living in a physical body. What we choose to do while we are living in our bodies is totally up to us, but every breath we take, every flower we observe, every step we take, everything we think, do, see, observe, or feel is a part of our spirituality.

I believe that every thought we think is a prayer. We must really watch what we are thinking, because the Universe hears every thought and takes it as a request.

Remember when we were children? The thought of danger or fear really did not exist until our parents or loved ones instilled in us the idea that some things were not a good idea.

This is good when it comes to: don't touch a hot stove, or don't go out into deep water until you learn to swim, but eventually more intangible fears were instilled in us.

We spend the next twenty or thirty years or even more unlearning some of those fears we were taught, either intentionally or unintentionally by our loved ones.

This is what I mean by: every thought we think is a prayer.

And so, now I really want to shake up some of those beliefs. What about the food we eat? If we have a belief or we have been taught that a certain food or drink is not good for us, then that thought makes that food unhealthy for us! Oh this is really going to shake up our thoughts about food and what we think about food.

If we really are spiritual beings living in physical bodies, then it stands to reason that EVERYTHING we do is a spiritual activity. If every thought we think is a prayer, then if you are thinking that a certain food or drink is not good for you, you are actually creating the reality of that belief!

It is a proven fact that there are Buddhist monks who have gone for extended periods of time with  no food or water and have not been affected physically. Some of them have lived for months with no real nourishment, only meditation and connection with Spirit. There is also that passage in the Bible where Jesus said," it is not what goes into your body that makes you unclean. It is what comes out of you that makes you unclean. From within your heart come all sorts of emotions, good and bad. These are the things that make you unclean, not what you put in your body."

My intention is to really pay attention to everything in my life, and enjoy it all. If something does not give me joy, whether it is something that I choose to eat or not to eat, or whether it is a television show that gives me the creeps versus one that makes me feel good, that is my inner compass to tell me whether or not it is good for me.

Remember that you are the master of your life! Never allow someone else to take your power away or tell you that you can't be spiritual if you eat this food or watch this television show. Every breath you take is a spiritual experience and you are the only one who can decide what gives you joy and what make your skin crawl. Let that inner guidance direct you.

As always, I would love to hear your comments! I am always available for private sessions. You can contact me through my website HERE.

Blessings to you on your path!

Five of Swords

This morning in my daily tarot card draw, I drew this card:
This is normally a card which represents some sort of conflict. As you can see on the card, one man is gathering the swords that the other men have laid down. The sky looks ominous. The man holding the swords has a smug look on his face. The other two men have their backs turned to the main character and are walking away.

As you can well imagine, when I drew this card, I was a bit apprehensive, thinking that there was a possibility of some sort of conflict ahead. I drew the card this morning before I went to work, and then again when I was driving home the card was poking its head out of my purse as if to say, "remember me! remember me!"

This card is a warning against the attitude of "I'm right, I know I'm right, and I don't care who that affects." We really have to be careful that we are not right at the expense of being kind. We may lose relationships when we stand our ground no matter what the cost.

I don't always post my daily tarot draw on my blog, as you know, but today I felt that this card was not just particularly for me. I don't really have any conflict going on right now (at least not that I am aware of), so when I drew this card it puzzled me. And then when it made itself aware to me a second time, then I knew that something was up.

Maybe those of us who are in the habit of sending out prayers, positive energy, love and light, or whatever you want to call your petitions to the Universe, might want to send out some good energy to any conflict that is brewing in the world today. You never know but maybe Spirit wants us to avert another disaster, and we can do it with our prayers.

Maybe this was a call to us to stop being so insistent on being right all the time and instead look for ways to bless others, even those who in our estimation don't deserve it.

Whatever the reason for Spirit giving me this card, I just think it wouldn't hurt for those who read this blog to send love and light out into the world, and request that there be peace. Thanks to you for joining me.

Choosing a Pope

Although I am not Catholic, I was watching the news this morning and noticing the congregation of Cardinals which have assembled with the task of choosing a new Pope. To me it was just another news item, one which at first did not hold any more significance than any other news item. Apparently Spirit had another idea. It took my Guides awhile to get the message to me. I am not really thick headed, but now I understand when They tell me that it is difficult to get messages across when it is not in line with a person's understanding. I guess it is kind of like showing airplanes to cave men. Or that story that the Native Americans didn't see the ships coming because they had never seen a ship before. I am not sure if I believe that, but I understand the thinking which came up with that idea. I am not Catholic, so it took awhile for the Guides to send me this message.

The first clue was my tarot card for the day. It is my custom to draw a tarot card every morning and contemplate its meaning on and off during the day. Today right after I had watched the news about the choosing of the new Pope, I drew this card:
I kind of chuckled to myself, and I thanked my Guides for showing me that the Guides that lead me to choose a tarot card really do tune into my energy for the day and apparently they knew I had just seen a whole congregation of men who were dressed this way. The man on this card is a representation of the Pope or at least someone in high authority in the church.

The hierophant card in the tarot has to do with submitting your personal ideals for a greater cause or giving of yourself to a life of service. So I thought, okay, maybe the tarot is telling me that I am to do something for someone else today. And then I left for the gym.

Then, another sign that maybe the Guides were telling me something more significant. I am on the elliptical, my favorite machine at the gym, and I am listening to my favorite music, electronica, and I hear in the music the sound of gongs that resemble very much the sound of church bells..

OH!! Okay, so it took a few tries but the Guides finally got through. You want to tell me something about the Pope???

I could almost hear my Guides exclaim.."FINALLY!!"

So this is the message and it is very important for all of us, whether or not we are Catholic, or even religious. My Guides told me that this choosing of the new Pope was very important for the energetic frequency of the earth and that I was to send the energy of love and light to all those given the task of choosing the next one and that anyone who was led to do so it would be beneficial if they did so as well!! They told me that the Pope has a great deal of significance in the future of the earth and the way that we proceed from this time forward. It is our earth, and we humans are the ones who choose the direction of the way that we manifest how we want our lives to unfold. Collectively we create our earth and how we relate to each other and to the earth. The Pope has a great deal of influence over a great deal of people, and choosing the one who will be an energetic match to the world we want to create is a big deal. So I invite all of you, Catholic or not, to send prayers, thoughts and positive energy to this big decision acting out today or however long it takes and  pray for the best possible candidate for the job to be selected.

Connect with that force of love and joy in your own heart and then send it out across the earth to all those faced with the task of choosing the next Pope and also send it to the future Pope and expect that our prayers will assist in the process so that the highest and best will unfold. It is time to put aside our differences and realize that whatever belief system we each choose, as long as it makes us a better person, makes us love one another and release hate, that is a valuable asset to our lives.

And from here on out, may I be more open to messages that are not exactly what I am thinking or focusing on at the moment. Like my husband tells me every day.. "not everyone lives in Joy's world."
